SMU's First Student Recruitment Drive at ZheJianng
==================================================
Following right after Singapore's Nanyang Technological University student recruitment drive at ZheJiang, yet another Singapore university followed suit.

Yesterday, Singapore Management University (SMU) announced that it would recruit top students from ZheJiang High School. A first attempt for the SMU.

SMU management Mr Chen explained that successful students shall be awarded with Singapore Ministry of Education bursary which is 65% sponsorship of the elected course fees. In addition, these students could apply for interest-free loans from Singapore's banks. And if any student is faced with tight financial circumstances, they could make further application for subsidies from the school. And should students perform excellently, they could even apply for Lee Kar-Shing scholarship, Lee Guang Qian scholarship and/or the SMU scholarship among the others available.

One special note is that since Singapore government is sponsoring the successful China students with 65% of their course fees, it is therefore a requirement they would serve a working contract with the Singapore government for 3 years upon graduation. However the requirement would be null if the sucessful student has been awarded the Lee Kar-Shing scholarship.

Singapore awards scholarships to Vietnammese students

Jimmy Chua (R), consul general of Singapore in HCMC, hands a scholarship to Le Nu Huyen Trang, one of seven students who receive full scholarships of the Singapore Government. The awarding ceremony took place at Sedona Club in the Saigon Center yesterday.

These students would pursue three or four-year undergraduate degree courses at the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU) or the Singapore Management University (SMU).

The Singapore Government also awarded eight scholarships to eight students in Hanoi on the Tuesday.

All the fifteen Vietnamese students will leave for Singapore this month. The Singapore Scholarship, which is fully funded by the Government of Singapore, will cover the tuition fees, return airfares and an annual living allowance.

The Singapore Scholarship is a Government-to-Government scheme. Scholars are selected on the basis of their academic merits, leadership qualities and their potential to contribute to community development in their home countries.
